LOVELY 1950s' GREEN FELT TOQUE WITH LARGE BOW + GROSGRAIN TRIM

This is a wonderful example of the exquisite fashions of the 1950s'. This small green felt toque (consists of a rounded structure folded to create a wide band around the front, and a large bow made of the same material at one side. The bow is trimmed with creatively folded grosgrain and arhinestone jewel. A matching green veil completes this elegant look.Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. Post war 1940’s and 1950’s saw many women choosing not to wear hats on a regular basis. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. Generally speaking hats remained small and close to the head. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble. Imprinted inside the hat: MELOSOIE - HENRY POLLAKHenry Pollak started designing ladies’ hats in New York around 1910. His hats were famous for exquisite designs and very high quality, and they were highly sought after. Still today they are a large part of hat collections.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
