Excellent deck of gorgeous cards titled “Medieval Heraldry Collectors’ Playing Cards,” published by Heraldic Times, Ltd. of Canterbury in 1992. The World Web Playing Card Museum identifies A double S as the maker, cards were “Made in Europe.” Whether or not A double S is the maker, the cards are absolutely beautiful. The designs are copyrighted to Heraldic Times.
The deck has 52 cards, plus 1 Joker, plus a backed blank card. The WWPCM listing only shows 1 Joker. There is a blue material that frames the cards.
The cards and box have never been opened and are in excellent condition.
The suit symbols are standard French symbols, but the pips have heraldic significance and are unique to the deck. The cards are wide, measuring 87mm x 62mm, with stunning gold gilt around. They come in the original box, and inside the box is a lovely blue silk fabric.
