Beautiful— elegant detail in precise artwork. My research, “1876 Danish Medal Centennial Exhibition. Baker-426B. Rarity-4. Danish Medal. White metal. 780.9 grains; 52.6 mm. Proof-63. Bright and reflective Proof fields, the devices being lightly frosted. A beautiful example of this popular medal. The dies were prepared by J. Ohlrik, and the medals were made by F. Schmahlfeld. This is one of the larger, more elegant medals of the 1876 Centennial Exhibition.” (Exposition Medals dot com)The Sheldon Scale (rarity-4), signifies,R-4 Very Scarce (population est at 76-200). Price offerings online were $100-240.The art detail is beautiful. I believe the reverse depicts George Washington above the American eagle. There is some edge damage and scuffing shown in photos. Perhaps good to round out a collection or for a new collector. It sparked questions for me about, the exhibition, who owned it, why— history magic. I can imagine a skilled teacher enticing learning for students. The time frame after civil war and start of the Industrial Revolution when the US was trying to repair the economy. Please ask questions, add to comments, make an offer. I’d like this to be enjoyed in a new home.
