Rattan Handle
This almost century-old Banko Japanese Teapot measures 8.5 x 6.5 x 5 inches, not including the handle. There is some faint wear to the paint and there is a tiny chip underneath the lid – I circled it in the last photo. There is a gilt gold bugle at the handle base. The colors are still very vivid and the teapot is sure to bring a smile to everyone who sees it.
Banko ware was a type of Japanese pottery that originated in the 'Mie' prefecture in Central Japan. The art dates back almost 270 years. You’ll also be receiving an old newspaper clipping about this teapot – see 2nd to last photo.
