A beautiful untreated double terminated water clear floater of Quartz coated in Green Chlorite in a Gwindel growth habit from high up in the Swiss Alps in Bern, Switzerland. The Gwindel growth habit is the rarest growth habit that Quartz is known to take. This is an excellent specimen in good condition overall. These are some of the hardest to acquire and most sought after specimens on the market fetching enormous prices. One thing that makes Gwindel formations so desirable is the task of getting them. Gwindels are found at very high altitudes in the Swiss and French Alps. They require full Mountain climbing gear and many years of training and experience to properly climb up to these locations. Miners will often risk their lives to get these and will often spend weeks at a time camping on the mountain top. The name Alpine Quartz is given to give distinction to the high altitude locality.
