Presented is a fabulous American Victorian 15 karat gold, pearl and woven hair brooch. This piece dates to circa 1856.
The brooch is set with finely plaited brown hair and light beige under glass, apparently for two people. The glass is surrounded by a ring of natural seed pearls. The seed pearls are in place except one is missing.
The brooch has an old c hook clasp.
The back of the brooch has a presentation inscription , reading John & Mary, August 1956, it is very unusual.
Dimension is 30.0 x 18.0mm, weight 6.9gm
No assay mark, tested for 14-15K
