This is a stunning look from the 1940s'! This tilt hat consists oddly of an ivory fabric covered circle which serves as the base for multiple curly straw bands. The hat is then covered in navy veiling which is attached, so it is not meant to fall on the face. There is a grosgrain covered "O" ring attached to the inside to keep the hat in place. What a beauty!Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
