DREAMY 1940s' BLACK CRIN WIDE BRIM TILT HAT + YELLOW/PEACH FABRIC FLOWERS

This is a magnificent wide brim tilt hat from the fabulous 40s'! The hat is made of creatively patterned crin bands. The low cfrown is round and is surrounded by a velour band that ends in a bow at the back. There are yellow and peach colored fabric flowers and green stems at one side. There is a black elastic band attached to the inside to keep the hat in a tilted position.Crin, also known as crinoline or horsehair, is a net-like material, easy to mold and is often used in the decoration of clothing, hats and accessories.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
