DASHING 1940s' BLACK FELT WIDE BRIM HAT + CONICAL CROWN + LARGE SEQUIN TRIM

This is definitely a very elegant hat from the fashionable 1940s'. The hat is made of black felt, and features a tall, conical crown which has been folded and attached at the top, for a unique look. There is a narrow felt band surrounding the crown, and ending in a bow at the back. The wide brim is slightly turned down. To finish this intriguing look, there are a few randomly placed large, black and shiny "sequins" on the brim and the crown.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
