AMAZING 1940s' BROWN FELT HAT - FEATHERED BRIM + TALL FEATHERS AND FELT STRIPS

This is a showstopper hat from then 1940s'! The brown felt hat has a tubular shaped crown which tapers down towards the back. There is an extended back to hold the heat in place, and an upturned short brim. This brim is covered in dark gold/orange feathers. The outstanding feature are the tall feathers attached last one side in the same color as the feathers on the brim, plus a curved, black quill. Curled strips of the same brown felt stream down from where the feathers are attached. Inside the brim there is some brown veiling.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular.
