Up for bid is a Hand Carved Beautiful wooden Mask of Queen Idia the Queen Mother also know as IYOBA. The Queen has a very typical hat with tribal figurations, and scarifications in the face.
Almost all Benin art was created to honor the king or queen, called Oba, who has reigned, with his ancestors, from the 15th century.
Beautifully made, with plenty of details, tribal figurations on the head and lots of tribal scarifications on the face.
This mask is of high quality and was made and unique in its kind. Beautifully finished off in detail.
