Thank you for viewing.
From Paris, known as one of the world's leading jazz capitals from the 1950s to the 1960s, DJ Cam, a French DJ/producer, emerged onto the scene in the 1990s amidst the acid jazz whirlwind, making a unique presence with his spirited sound.
This work is an album released in 2009 under the name DJ Cam Quartet, a group he formed with three jazz musicians. The music played here is not jazzy hip-hop but rather a sound that makes you want to call it jazz that has passed through hip-hop.
It's consistently cool, thoroughly mellow, and endlessly stylish. It features the silky vocals of female vocalist Inlove on Roy Ayers' Everybody Loves The Sunshine and Pharoah Sanders' You've Got To Have Freedom, as well as covers of Donald Byrd's Think Twice and Brazilian bossa jazz's Nebulosa, all of which are known as standard sampling sources in hip-hop.
