It was the band's last album with drummer Aynsley Dunbar and the first to feature vocalist Steve Perry. The addition of Perry gave the band a more mainstream sound and helped Journey attain their highest chart success to date. 'Infinity' received higher critical acclaim than its lackluster chart performance would suggest, reaching #21 on the Billboard 200.'Wheel in the Sky' was the only single from the album to enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at #57. The song 'Lights', though it did not chart upon release, would ultimately achieve Double Platinum certification in the US.
