VERY RARE. Vintage Peru PERUVIAN Replica of ancient indigenous peoples circa 1100-1400 AD.art. Bought in 1936 Pottery Vessel Tribal Art pre-Columbian, Chimu. carved on the bottom by the artist and says done by hand. Approx size: 6 3/4 wide,  3 1/4 depth, 6 tall. Purchased in Peru. See the photo to see a small pottery crack in between man and vessel. Is sturdy and stable, no other issues. This is a beautiful, unique find.


CONDITION:  Shows age, a spout with a small chip near the rim and a hairline crack at the base of the figural chamber, light earthen deposits within the recessed areas, otherwise in good condition consistent with age.


PROVENANCE: The object comes from a private American collection





Chimú, South American Indians who maintained the largest and most important political system in Peru before the Inca (q.v.).  The distinctive pottery of the Chimú aids in dating Andean civilization in the late periods along the north coast of Peru.
