In 1947, after the end of World War II and as America entered a period of upheaval, the 501® jeans also underwent significant changes. With the end of rationing and the availability of materials, familiar 501® details like the watch pocket rivet returned. Simultaneously, reflecting the changing times and the rise of the middle class, the fit became more modern and slim, with details like cinches and suspender buttons removed. A noticeable change was the shift from paint-applied to stitched arcuate stitching on the back pockets. New double-needle technology enabled mass production of the familiar double-arch stitching with uniform size and design, eliminating variations due to differences in worker sewing skills.
This 1947 model uses the same 12-ounce red-selvedge denim, faithfully reproducing details such as the fit, riveted watch pocket, reinforced back pockets with hidden rivets, and the red BIG E tab. Model: 180cm, B80, W70, H88. Wearing size: 32 inches.
