Yes, there was an Indian boarding school in Carlisle, Pennsylvania known as the Carlisle Indian Industrial School. It operated from 1879 through 1918 and had a mission to kill the Indian to save the Man . The school subjected 7,800 Indian children from more than 140 Tribes to its coercive form of education3. Founded by Richard Henry Pratt, it became the framework for future federal boarding schools in the United States.
