After the Pan American Highway was completed in Mexico, Mexico was filled with American Tourists on vacation. These types of bowls werepurchased as souvenirs and brought back to America, therefore, named Tourist Ware. It is unmarked which was common at this time. It is also stamped with Made In Mexico.

MEXICAN REDWARE

Early Mexican Redware or Touristware was extremely popular in the 20s and 30s in the United States. There were major Mexican exhibit in Los Angeles and New York during this time and a traveling exhibit that began in the Met in New York city and traveled to thirteen
cities. Also, Macy's in New York imported Mexican and sold to the American public. More and more people became interested in
Mexican art and started traveling, by car and plane, to Mexico during this time, spurring production to meet demand.
