For your consideration is this very well done pencil or chalk drawing of Jesus and His disciples on a ship on a stormy sea. I think this drawing is based on Rembrandt's oil painting titled, Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee . According to one online source, this painting was housed in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston until 1990 when it and twelve other paintings were stolen. Although authorities reported in 2013 they knew the thief, this painting has never been recovered. The drawing is on board and measures approximately 20 x 16 . It is signed about an inch under the ship on the right - it looks like Jim Carter or something similar like Caton, Canton, Canoni, Carton, Catoni etc.
Condition: It is in very nice condition overall for its age. The back has some browning. There is a little bit of edge wear, but a frame will cover that. It doesn't lay perfectly flat- has a little minor curve or curl likely caused by the frame it was in.
