Description: Original vintage travel poster for Egypt featuring a great image of tourists admiring the iconic Abu Simbel Temple and ancient hieroglyphics carved on the rock above with a sailing boat visible on the side and the title text in white against the blue sky background. The 13th century Abu Simbel rock temples were built to commemorate victory in the Battle of Kadesh and as a lasting monument to Pharaoh Ramesses II (Ramses the Great; circa 1302 BC-1213 BC) and Queen Nefertari (Nefertari Meritmut; d. 1255 BC), located at Abu Simbel village in the Aswan region of Egypt, near the border with Sudan; due to the building of the Aswan High Dam on the River Nile and creation of Lake Nasser, the temples were relocated in 1968.
