COMME des GARCONS HOMME, established in 1978 within COMME des GARCONS and led by designer and president Rei Kawakubo, is a men's brand that proudly promotes the concept of GOOD SENSE GOOD QUALITY. It showcases a commitment to detail, such as innovative linings and stitching work, while maintaining a basic framework and appearance.
After the founding designer Rei Kawakubo, Keiichi Tanaka, who gained experience at Nicole in 1990, and Junya Watanabe took over as designer in 2004. The series developed by Tanaka featuring felt processing, collaborations with Porter, and designs with the brand logo offset became greatly popular and are considered good designs that adults can wear continuously. This era is known as the Tanaka Homme period and is highly regarded alongside Kawakubo’s HOMME PLUS.
This is a two-tack wide pant from the COMME des GARCONS HOMME 1992 AW collection, designed by Keiichi Tanaka, who is the brother of Yuji Tanaka from the comedy duo Bakusho Mondai. These are out-tack pants made from a thick gauge nepped tweed, symbolizing the beginning of '90s mode with their extremely wide and gently tapered silhouette. The sturdy tweed evokes a sense of retro nostalgia, and thanks to the quality of the fabric, they reaffirm the craftsmanship of Gyarson. It would be ideal to pair them with an oversized tailored jacket with power shoulders or a very short blouson.
Due to being a very old and rare vintage archive item from around 30 years ago, there are several inconspicuous holes near the calf area due to the characteristics of the fabric. The inseam has been this length since purchase.
