The Princess Charlotte memorial chatelaine pendant is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The pendant is a gold piece with a miniature portrait of Princess Charlotte, enamel, rock crystal, and diamonds. It also contains three locks of Charlotte's hair, curled into the shape of feathers, which is the symbol of the Prince of Wales.
The pendant was made in 1817 to commemorate the death of Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales. Charlotte was the daughter of the Prince Regent and heir presumptive to the throne. She died at the age of 21 after giving birth to a stillborn son. It is noted in several works- including Jewelry in Britan (see last photos for reference)
This piece is a wonderful wearable Artist Rendition of the original!! The chain is embossed with flower links and the piece is gold plated and signed on the back. Chain is 28 long total. Pendant measurements are in the photos.
