Chinese cloisonné technique is a traditional art form that involves creating designs on metal objects using a combination of porcelain and bronze-working skills, painting, and etching:
Create the body: Use red copper to make the body of the object.
Create the design: Bend or hammer copper or bronze wires into the desired pattern. These enclosures are called cloisons, which is French for partitions .
Apply the design: Paste or solder the cloisons onto the metal body.
Fill the design: Paint colored glass paste, or enamel, into the cloisons. The enamel is colored with metallic oxide.
Fire: Fire the object at a low temperature, usually around 800°C.
Repeat: Repeat the firing process multiple times to fill in the design.
Polish: Rub the surface of the object until the edges of of the cloisons are visible
Gild: Gild the object, often on the edges, interior, and base
