The typewriter buttons function and slide the bar to the left when you click them, except at the point where I took a picture with my finger pushing it. At that spot, it needs a little help to gently push the bar to the left, after which you can press the buttons to keep it sliding and hear the tiny bell when it reaches the end.
I believe this is the original version of the typewriter.
