Vintage (1920's) salt glazed whiskey jug. Look closely at the picture where the handle joins the jug. When handmade jugs, mugs, casseroles, etc. are created and a handle added, small superficial cracks occur as the join dries. This has no effect on the usability of the jug since these are only surface imperfections. You will see this in most handmade ceramics. In addition, there are some imperfections around the lip of the piece caused by the potter when it was created.
