This is a Victorian-era umbrella with a mother of pearl and gold-filled handle and a monogram.
The handle is in remarkable condition with dents near the monogram. The umbrella is attached, but is not functional due to rips and tears. There are no breaks or bends in the construction of the umbrella frame.
The handle measures 9” with a total length of 38”
This item could be used as a walking stick, however, I would consider a weight limit not exceed 200lbs due to age.
During the Victorian era, umbrellas and walking sticks evolved from mere functional items into fashion accessories and status symbols. The handles, in particular, became canvases for artistic expression.
Please refer to all photos regarding condition.
appraised value of $400-$450
