This is a detailed charcoal pencil drawing of an Indian child in tribal traditional clothes by Vera Louise Drysdale, a collectors artist known for her many portraits, paintings, & sketches of many of the Great Plains Indian tribes, specifically the Lakota, Navajo, Hopi, & Crow tribes.
Vera was born in China in 1921 & died in Tucson in 1994. She was the daughter of missionaries & the family moved to Kansas & she specialized in the drawing of Native Americans. She was inspired by the Lakota Indians to draw pictures of their lives.
