Country and Denomination: It is a 5 Cents coin from the Netherlands Antilles, a former constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean.
Composition and Design: The coin is made of Copper-Nickel. The obverse (front) features the crowned shield of the Netherlands Antilles with the motto "LIBERTATE UNANIMUS" (Unified in Freedom), while the reverse displays the "5 CENT" denomination surrounded by six stars, representing the six islands of the Netherlands Antilles at the time (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius, and Saba).
Historical Context: Coins with the "Nederlandse Antillen" inscription, like this one, were first issued in 1952. The Netherlands Antillean Guilder, to which the Cent was subdivided, was replaced by the United States Dollar in Bonaire, Saba, and Sint Eustatius in 2011, and by the Caribbean Guilder in Curaçao and Sint Maarten in March 2025, although the Antilles guilders remained legal tender until June 30, 2025.
