Cold hardy. Drought resistant and edible. Healthy also. Can be cooked and made into a drink. Makes a nice hedge or barrier. Cold hardy but not resistant to long winters outside. Easy to grow. Roots fast. Any kind of soil. Plant and water. Water when dry to touch.
These have tiny little prickles ( No spines )which can be very annoying. I use tape to get them out of my fingers.
Reptiles also enjoy opuntia in their diet.
