St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Wroclaw, Poland Hand-Colored Etching Signed and Titled in Pencil by the Artist. Hand-colored etching print , pre-owned and has been very gently used. The title is Breslau, Dom-Insel. Artist: A Kemo? It is framed and matted with brown wooden frame. Its framed measurements are 14"x12" and the print measures 8.5"x6.25".
It is of the Cathedral Island & the Oder River in Breslau, Germany pre-war, showing how cathedral island looked before World War II. On the back is a news article in German describing the changes to the cathedral & Wroclaw, Poland post-war.
It reads: "A view across the Oder to the cathedral island: while the cathedral, which was two thirds destroyed in 1945, was being rebuilt - the reconstruction lasted until 1951 - today, instead of the pointed towers of the past, the blunt towers rise up into the sky. A symbol for many things that have changed in for many things that have changed in Wroclaw."
